Director & Instructor
Jolene fell in love with clogging as a kid when her family attended the Medora Musical in Medora, North Dakota. In 1999 while attending college, she joined a dance group and learned how to clog. Jolene directed her own clogging group in Rapid City before joining BHMC and becoming an instructor in 2012. Jolene has traveled with the BHMC adult competition team to Wyoming to compete in the Bighorn Mountain Clogging Showdown and the America Onstage clogging competition in Utah. Most recently, Jolene's childhood dream of clogging on stage at the Medora Musical came true! She has performed at Disneyland Amusement Park in California, on a cruiseship to the Bahamas and in Branson, Missouri. Jolene is the current owner of BHMC, loves to teach and coordinates all performances & trips.
Co-Director & Instructor
Kayla has been clogging since 1991. Kayla started directing the Country Rockin’ Clogging Studio in Wyoming in 2000 and has performed at the National Clogging Convention, Disneyland and Disneyworld and competed in multiple states. She taught at the University of Montana and was a member of the 2001 Spain Dance World Festival U.S. clogging team. Kayla is the original owner of Black Hills in Motion Cloggers that she started in 2007 and is now Co-Director, choreographer and instructor.
Instructor
Melinda began tap dancing at age three, took various dance classes (including jazz and ballet) until she graduated from high school, and has been dancing ever since (especially in her kitchen). She took a clogging class in college and fell in love with it. Many years later, after moving to Rapid City, her dream of finding a clogging group to join came true when she discovered the Black Hills in Motion Cloggers. She has been dancing with BHMC since 2015 and enjoys performing throughout the Black Hills. Melinda has performed twice at the Medora Musical and is always thrilled to share her love of dance with audiences and students alike.
